Tuesday Night Prayer in Cambridge MA
Prayer & Worship Service - Tuesdays, 7pm
Tuesday night prayer is a place of ENCOUNTER and a place of ENTREATY.
We want to encounter the presence of God and entreat the mercy of God to bring a spiritual awakening to our land. In many churches in America the prayer meeting is the least attended service of the week, and often there is no prayer meeting at all. We need to change that, and there's no time to waste...
SPIRITUAL ALARM BELLS ARE GOING OFF ALL AROUND US
"Blow a trumpet in Zion, And SOUND THE ALARM on My holy mountain!
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, For the day of the Lord is coming; Surely it is near,
A day of darkness and gloom, A day of clouds and thick darkness." (Joel 2:1-2)
Our world is broken; our government is broken, the economy is broken, our families are broken, and people are gripped with fear as our world spirals out of control. Instead of being a beacon of light that breaks through the darkness, we the church have been mostly powerless to meet the great need of this hour. But why? In a word: PRAYERLESSNES.
OUR SELF-CENTEREDNESS HAS WEAKENED US
We have turned our attention inward, and focused on personal blessing rather than personal sacrifice, and the result has been spiritual bankruptcy. Instead of relying on God through prayer we have developed our own ideas of how to attract the world and make the gospel more palatable. Prayerlessness and self-reliance have made us spiritually anemic, and the influence of the church for good in society is at an all-time low today.
IT'S NOT TO LATE!
Yet even now, if we will return to God in humility and prayer, He will restore the church to its rightful place as a powerful force for righteousness in our world. Listen to God speaking through the prophet Joel to His people in a similar time of spiritual decline and impending judgement.
"Yet even now", declares the Lord, "Return to me with all your heart, and with fasting, weeping and mourning; And rend your heart and not your garments." ...Who knows whether He will not turn and relent and leave a blessing behind Him." (Joel 2:12-14)
Let's seek God's face together, ENCOUNTERING His presence and ENTREATING His mercy to turn our hearts back to Him; and who knows, maybe He will bring another great spiritual awakening to our land!
